Goal:

To create hand-drawn animal typography where the animal’s name was shaped into the animal’s body shape.

Process:

After multiple sketches I narrowed it down to one hand-drawn animal design for five different animals.

I then used Photoshop and Illustrator to take the scanned drawings and change them into vector graphics.

Using Illustrator’s smooth tool I was able to alter my drawings to make the edges more smooth and the shapes fit together better. I had a lot of fun with this project, I enjoyed fiddling around with the letters to make the shapes look more like the animal shape without the actual word being illegible.

I decided to place these animals with their letters in the animal’s actual colour and placing them on a brightly coloured background – to make them pop a bit more.
