Goal:

To create a vector drawing using Adobe Illustrator’s pen tool, then animate the drawing using Adobe Photoshop.

Process:

My initial idea for this project was to “build” the robot drawing as it is animated through the GIF. I used the pen tool as well as basic shapes in Illustrator to create the robot’s body parts. I grouped the shapes together to form the right arm, left arm, body, head and legs. I created the big gears for the background as well as the body of the robot to create more visual interest in the GIF.

After completing the drawing in Illustrator, I brought each body part into Photoshop to animate it into a GIF. Each body part sort of flies into the body to have the feel of the robot being built and then complete at the end of the GIF with the gears flying in in the background.
